Steamed Asparagus Bake - With Lemon & Dill Smoked Garlic

INGREDIENTS

225 grams / 1/2 lb asparagus Spears
5 cherry tomatoes
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
118 millilitres / 1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon cornflour / cornstarch
a pinch of Asafoetida or onion powder
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 cloves of Lemon and Dill Smoked Garlic – Crushed
a handful of grated Cheddar cheese to sprinkle over the top

 


 

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut asparagus spears into 2 or 3 pieces.
Steam the asparagus pieces until tender.
Preheat the oven to 400F / 200 C / Gas Mark 6.
Warm the extra virgin olive oil in a small saucepan, add the asafoetida or onion powder, Lemon and Dill Smoked Garlic, ground black pepper and curry powder.
Dissolve the cornflour in a little of the milk, stir into the saucepan and then whisk in the rest of the milk.
Whisk over a low heat until you have a smooth sauce.
Line a small deep ovenproof dish approximate size 6 x 5 inch / 15 x 12.5 cm with the asparagus spears.
Halve the cherry tomatoes and lay across the top of the asparagus.
Drizzle the creamy sauce over the top, then sprinkle with the grated cheese.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
